SCUBA CYLINDER HYDROSTATIC TEST AND PERIODIC INSPECTION - SINGLE CYLINDER

Momodive offers a management service for the periodic inspection and hydrostatic testing of scuba cylinders, including both CE marked cylinders (PED) and so-called Non-CE Marked Cylinders (Old Fleet), generally manufactured before the widespread introduction of CE marking requirements.

This service includes the management of the inspection process, hydrostatic testing procedures and all operations required for the periodic certification of scuba cylinders.

This service is provided in accordance with the regulations applicable in Italy for scuba cylinders intended to be inspected and certified within the Italian territory.

The periodic inspection of scuba cylinders is mandatory to maintain compliance with applicable regulations and ensure safe operation. This service is intended for single scuba cylinders used for recreational, technical and professional diving.

Available Inspection Types

CE Marked Cylinders (PED)

CE marked cylinders are inspected according to the pressure equipment regulations applicable in Italy.

Non-CE Marked Cylinders (Old Fleet)

Non-CE marked cylinders require a different inspection procedure. An additional fee of €20.00 applies compared to the standard inspection service for CE marked cylinders.

To determine which category your cylinder belongs to, simply check the markings stamped on the cylinder body. If you are unsure, you may send us photographs of the markings for a preliminary verification. For further information please contact us.

Do I Need to Send the Valve?

To reduce weight, package size and the risk of transport damage, we recommend shipping the cylinder without the valve whenever valve servicing is not required.

If the valve is installed on the cylinder, its removal and reinstallation can be managed as part of the service.

Estimated Turnaround Times

CE Marked Cylinders (PED)

• Cylinders are normally submitted for inspection on a weekly basis.
• Subject to operational availability, submissions are generally made on Thursdays.
• Cylinders should arrive at our facility at least 2 working days before the planned submission date.
• Under normal circumstances, inspected cylinders are available for collection or shipment from the Thursday of the following week.

Non-CE Marked Cylinders (Old Fleet)

• Inspection procedures generally require additional processing time.
• Please allow approximately 20 extra days compared to standard PED cylinders.

All turnaround times are estimates only and may vary depending on transport times, inspection center schedules and any additional checks required during the inspection process.

Shipping Cylinders

Cylinders must be completely empty before shipment.

For safety and transport compliance reasons, pressurized cylinders must not be shipped.

You may deliver the cylinder directly to our facility or request collection through our partner couriers.

Please note: collection through our courier network is available only within Italy. Collection requests from addresses outside Italy cannot be arranged.

Courier Collection Service

Once the customer confirms that the package is ready, we will arrange collection through our courier network and provide the shipping label to be printed and attached to the parcel.

• Cylinders must be properly packaged and protected for transport.
• Collection is normally carried out between 09:00 and 18:00.
• Specific collection times cannot be guaranteed.
• Additional transport insurance may be requested separately.

Shipping Costs

For a single cylinder, the shipping cost displayed during checkout refers exclusively to the return shipment of the cylinder after completion of the inspection service.

We will verify whether your location is covered by our transport network and provide a quotation for the collection service.

Cylinders That Do Not Pass Inspection

The purchased service includes inspection management, preparation work and submission of the cylinder for inspection.

The outcome of the inspection depends entirely on the condition of the cylinder and the applicable regulatory requirements.

If a cylinder fails the inspection or is declared unsuitable for certification, no refund will be issued for the inspection service, as the contracted services will already have been performed.

Shipping, collection, return shipping and any other services already carried out are also non-refundable.

For Non-CE Marked Cylinders (Old Fleet), acceptance and processing times remain subject to the applicable regulations and inspection requirements. Any additional documentation or processing requirements will be communicated to the customer whenever possible.

CE Marked Cylinders (PED) and Non-CE Marked Cylinders (Old Fleet)

Momodive manages the inspection of both CE marked scuba cylinders (PED) and non-CE marked cylinders commonly referred to as Old Fleet cylinders. These categories follow different inspection procedures and may require different turnaround times and costs depending on the applicable regulations.

Will I receive a refund if my cylinder fails inspection?

Why can a cylinder fail inspection?

Possible reasons include internal or external corrosion, wall thickness reduction, deformation, mechanical damage, structural defects or any other condition that prevents compliance with applicable safety requirements.

Can I ship the cylinder with the valve installed?

Yes. However, if valve servicing is not required, we recommend shipping the cylinder without the valve to reduce weight, size and the risk of transport damage.

Can I request collection from my address?

Yes. Collection can be arranged through our partner couriers. Please contact us first so we can verify coverage and provide a quotation for the service.

When are CE marked cylinders normally submitted for inspection?

Subject to operational availability, CE marked cylinders are generally submitted for inspection on Thursdays. To be included in the weekly submission, cylinders should arrive at least 2 working days beforehand.

Can I request collection outside Italy?
