To increase the likelihood of completing the inspection before our summer closure, we recommend that your twinset reaches us by Friday, 24 July 2026.
Twinsets received after this date will normally be accepted and processed from our reopening on 27 August 2026, according to the scheduled inspection sessions.
For specific requirements or to check the expected turnaround time before shipping, please contact us.
Momodive provides a management service for the periodic inspection of scuba twinsets, consisting of two connected diving cylinders used as a double-cylinder configuration for technical, recreational or professional diving.
The service includes management of the inspection procedure and the hydrostatic testing of both cylinders forming the twinset. It is available for both CE marked cylinders (PED) and cylinders belonging to the category commonly referred to in Italy as the Old Fleet, generally consisting of non-CE marked cylinders manufactured before CE marking became widespread.
Each cylinder forming the twinset is identified and inspected individually according to the applicable procedure. This product therefore covers the inspection of both cylinders in one scuba twinset.
This service is provided in accordance with the regulations applicable in Italy to scuba cylinders inspected and certified within Italian territory.
PED INSPECTION – CE Marked Cylinders
Italian Ministerial Decree 329/04
Twinsets consisting of CE marked cylinders follow the periodic inspection procedure established by the PED regulations applicable in Italy.
OLD FLEET INSPECTION – Non-CE Marked Cylinders
Italian Ministerial Decree 12-09-1925 – Royal Decree 12-05-1927 no. 824, Article 44
Non-CE marked cylinders follow a different inspection procedure and normally require longer processing times than PED cylinders. Any applicable surcharge is calculated for both cylinders forming the twinset and is shown in the selected product combination.
Before purchasing the service, please check the markings stamped on both cylinders. If you are unsure which inspection type applies, you may send us clear photographs of the markings for a preliminary assessment. For further information, please contact us.
A scuba twinset normally consists of two cylinders, two valves, a central isolation manifold and cylinder bands. To reduce parcel weight, overall dimensions and the risk of transport damage, we recommend agreeing with us in advance whether the twinset should be delivered complete or partially disassembled.
If no servicing is required on the valves or manifold, it may be preferable to send only the two cylinders. If the complete twinset is delivered, removal and subsequent reinstallation of the valves can be managed as part of the service.
Before attempting to remove the valves, manifold or cylinder bands yourself, we recommend that you contact us, particularly if you do not have the correct tools or the necessary experience.
Twinsets with CE Marked Cylinders (PED)
Twinsets with Non-CE Marked Cylinders – Old Fleet
All turnaround times are estimates only and may vary depending on the availability of the authorities and authorized inspection centers involved, transport times and any additional checks required during the procedure.
Both cylinders must be completely empty and depressurized before shipment.
For safety and transport compliance reasons, diving cylinders must not be shipped while filled or pressurized.
The twinset may be delivered directly to our premises by selecting free in-store collection. Alternatively, the customer may arrange shipment independently or request a preliminary quotation for collection through one of our partner couriers.
Important: collection through our courier network is available only within Italy and is subject to verification of the collection area, parcel weight and package dimensions. Collection from addresses outside Italy cannot be arranged.
Courier collection must not be booked before receiving confirmation from us. Once we have checked service coverage and the package specifications, we will provide the transport cost and the relevant instructions.
When the parcel is ready, we will arrange collection and send the shipping label, which must be printed and securely attached to the package.
Due to the weight and dimensions of a complete scuba twinset, transport costs must be checked and quoted in advance.
Before purchasing the service, please contact us and provide the collection or delivery location, the approximate parcel weight and the package dimensions.
We will verify service coverage with our transport providers and separately confirm the cost of any requested collection and return shipment.
Do you need to inspect several twinsets, stage cylinders or other diving cylinders? Please contact us before purchasing so that we can assess the most cost-effective transport solution.
The purchased service includes management of the inspection procedure, the required preliminary operations and submission of both cylinders for inspection.
The inspection outcome depends entirely on the condition of each individual cylinder and the requirements established by the applicable regulations. Because the two cylinders are assessed separately, one cylinder may pass the inspection while the other is declared unsuitable.
If one or both cylinders fail the inspection or are declared unsuitable for continued certification, no full or partial refund will be issued for the services already performed.
Shipping, collection, return transport, disassembly, reassembly and any other operations already completed are also non-refundable.
For Old Fleet cylinders, acceptance for inspection and the relevant processing times remain subject to the required checks. Any additional documentation or work required will be communicated to the customer whenever possible.
Double cylinder testing is not a single test performed on the complete assembled unit. Each of the two cylinders is identified and individually subjected to the checks and procedures required by the applicable inspection system.
It is therefore important to check the markings on both cylinders. In some twinsets, the cylinders may have different manufacturing years, previous inspection dates or technical specifications.
This service is available to recreational and technical divers, dive centers, diving schools, sports associations, diving clubs and professional operators throughout Italy.
Yes. The double cylinder testing service covers management and submission for inspection of both cylinders that make up the scuba twinset.
The equipment is managed as one twinset, but each cylinder is individually subjected to the required checks. The inspection result may therefore be different for each cylinder.
The cylinders are assessed individually. One cylinder may therefore pass while the other is rejected. In this situation, no partial refund is available for the inspection work already carried out.
You must check the markings stamped on the body of each cylinder. If you are unsure, send us clear photographs of both sets of markings for a preliminary assessment.
Yes. However, because of its weight, size and the risk of transport damage, we recommend contacting us before shipment. We will help determine whether it is preferable to send the complete twinset or only the two cylinders.
Yes. Both cylinders must be completely empty and depressurized before shipment. Filled or pressurized cylinders must not be shipped.
Collection can be arranged only after checking the service coverage, package weight and dimensions. You must therefore contact us before preparing or handing the parcel to the courier.
Subject to operational changes, twinsets with CE marked cylinders are normally submitted for inspection on Monday. To be included in the planned session, they must reach us at least 2 working days beforehand.
For twinsets with CE marked cylinders, availability is normally expected by Wednesday of the week following submission. For Old Fleet cylinders, approximately 20 additional days should be allowed.
No. Collection through our partner courier network is available exclusively within Italy.
The inspection is carried out according to the regulations applicable in Italy. Customers are responsible for verifying whether the certification is accepted by the local authorities, filling stations or diving operators in their own country.
